Matthias Egger

Environmental Scientist
PhD

Aquatic ecosystems are experiencing rapid human-induced changes due to climate change, eutrophication and environmental pollution. Yet, the biogeochemical responses to these changes remain poorly studied and understood. My research aims at advancing a more fundamental understanding of biogeochemical cycles and anthropogenic pollutants such as plastics in aquatic environments. I am particularly interested how anthropogenic stressors effect the cycling of nutrients and carbon, as well as in the transport and transformation processes of plastics in aquatic systems.
